At the ripe age of five, I attended summer camp for the first time, and I fell in love. It may have only lasted a weekend, but it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I returned summer after summer, meeting my future bridesmaids, falling in camp love, and learning more about myself than I ever wanted to know.
At 15, our camp director decided I was ready to become a counselor, and I knew I had the best job in the world. I put my all into making sure my cabin had the best time of their lives. Six years later, I was still on staff as a counselor, and I was brokenhearted about what I thought was my “last summer.”
Right before college graduation, my camp had an opening for camp director, and I made it known I wanted it. At 22, I was back and running camp.
I’m a young camp director, but I have fallen in love with the camping industry.
Summer Camp Magic is my way of giving back to our camp community.
